The Toronto Maple Leafs have placed forward Dave Bolland on IR after he had surgery to repair a severed tendon on the outside of his left ankle, as per The Canadian Press. As previously reported, Bolland left Saturday night’s game after being hit into the boards by Zack Kassian and getting cut by his skate blade. This injury comes at a very difficult time for the Leafs as their number one center, Tyler Bozak, is also out for a few more weeks. With Bolland now out as well, the Leafs are looking to experiment with other players down the middle. James Mirtle of The Globe and Mail reports that the team practiced with James Van Riemsdyk at center between Joffrey Lupul and Phil Kessel. Van Riemsdyk has played at the wing for pretty much all of his NHL career. “Whatever we need me to do to help the team win games, I’m fine with,” said van Riemsdyk.
