When Mark Fraser was swapped from the Toronto Maple Leafs to the Edmonton Oilers, then joined his new team on the road and suited up for them in a matinee in Boston before he had met most of his teammates, let alone practised with them, it was not a new experience for him. It happened to him in similar fashion in 2004 when he was playing Tier II junior with the Gloucester Rangers of the old CJHL. That Ottawa-area club sacked its coaching staff in mid-season one year, turning a positive environment into a negative one. The young Fraser needed a new option.
