According to a Darren Dreger tweet, Martin Brodeur has hired Pat Brisson as an agent and will hit the open market when the bell tolls on July 1st. For a team that lacks a proven starter in net, you would have to think the Maple Leafs would be interested, given the rumour mill that they’re hot after Roberto Luongo, and have mild interest in Jonathon Bernier out of LA.
I’d be all for signing Brodeur to a short 1 or 2 year contract, given that he just took the Devils to the Stanley Cup Finals. It’s worth the gamble considering we’d be giving up zero assets to acquire him.
Also, this is a good read on the topic : Martin Brodeur – The Maple Leaf?
Martin Brodeur very likely to test free agent market. Brodeur has hired Pat Brisson (CAA) to represent him. Bidders get ready!
