#490859009 / While the Toronto Maple Leafs haven’t made any major moves in the opening days of free agency, they did bring in 29-yar-old Finnish center Petri Kontiola from the KHL on a one-year deal. Kontiola was drafted in the seventh round, number 196 overall, by the Chicago Blackhawks in the 2004 NHL Entry Level Draft. He was with the organization for two seasons but only played in 12 NHL games where he had five points on five assists. The majority of his time was spent playing in the AHL. Kontiola played for the Rockford Icehogs and the Iowa Chops and he put up some impressive numbers. In 147 games in the AHL he scored 37 goals and had 93 assists for an impressive 130 points before leaving for the KHL. Kontiola played two seasons for the Magnitogorsk Metallurg before joining the Chelyabinsk Traktor in 2011. In 258 career KHL games he scored 63 goals and had 112 assists for 175 points. He was named to the KHL all-star team twice and was the leading scorer of the 2013 Gagarin Cup Playoffs
